The Western Oklahoma State College PionAir Flying Club, Red River Aviation and the Altus Quartz Mountain Regional Airport will sponsor a security training meeting on Saturday, March 31, at 9 a.m. with a pancake breakfast preceding at 8:30 a.m. at 15985 US HWY 283 or the Red River Aviation hangar.
John H. Boatright, FAA Safety Team Program Manager at the Lubbock, Texas FSDO, will present the program. Boatright’s presentation will include tips and techniques for maintaining directional control during takeoff and landing. Rejected takeoffs and landings, stabilized approaches and traffic patterns will be discussed. The event is free and open to the public but, registration is encouraged. Boatright’s 45- year aviation career has included Army service as a helicopter pilot and instructor, 8 years of corporate aviation and over 22 years with the FAA . He has logged more than 13,300 flight hours. Other credits include: FAA National Resource Inspector for DC-3 airplanes as well as R22 and R44 helicopters; ATP for Airplane Multiengine Land and Rotocraft Helicopter with commercial privileges in Airplane Single Engine Land and Sea and Flight Instructor Ratings for Single and Multi-engine Airplanes; Rotocraft Helicopter and Airplane and Helicopter Instrument ratings.
