Manuel Daniel Jr.
Manuel Daniel Jr., 44, of Altus, was denied bail Thursday, May 31, in the Jackson County District Court, in connection with the murder of Melissa Bost. The body of Bost was found on Feb. 28, in her Dodge Nitro, in the 1000 block of E. Sutherland. Daniel has been charged with first degree homicide in the case.
According to the affidavit written by Altus Police Detective Bill Perkins, Daniel was interviewed by officers several times, consistently denying seeing Bost on Feb. 27 through Feb. 28, the time frame of her disappearance.
Forensic evidence in the case, analyzed by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), indicates that Bost was in Daniel’s home during a struggle in which several of her fingernails were broken off. Three fingernails were collected from the canister of Daniel’s vacuum. The OSBI said that the odds of one of the fingernails belonging to another individual would be “one in 3.44 sextillion”.
