Off the Wall Dance Productions’ 2012 concert will help make the world brighter for young people suffering from cancer.
The curtain opens for “Brighter Than The Sun” at 7 p.m. at the Altus City Auditorium tomorrow, June 2. The concert will feature solo and group performances in ballet, jazz, tap, pointe and hip hop. Among the performers will be members of the OTW competitive team, who will showcase their national competition-qualifying routines.
Proceeds from “Brighter Than The Sun,” OTW’s 26th recital, will benefit Sheridan’s Sunshine Foundation, an organization formed by the parents of Sheridan Bautista, who was a member of Off the Wall’s competitive dance program before being diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2011. Sheridan’s dream was to help bring a ray of sunshine to other children suffering from the disease that last December took her life.
Sheridan’s Sunshine Foundation’s goal is to raise awareness of all childhood cancer and raise money for research to help find a cure. The foundation also assists new childhood cancer patient families with travel expenses.
Admission to this year’s concert is free, but donations will be accepted to help support Sheridan’s dream.
