Wheat freeze inspection meeting set for county producers
Jackson County wheat producers experienced another blow to their already struggling wheat crop this past week with an April freeze. Temperatures in Jackson County got down to 17-22 0 F the mornings of March 25 and 26 for several hours. AIS assistant principal killed in tragic accident
Frederick “Rick” James Roop, of Altus, was tragically killed in an accident at the Tillman Producers Co-Op Fertilizer Plant in Frederick Thursday. According to reports from Frederick Chief of Police Joel Neely, officers were called to the facility at about 6:27 p.m. to assist Tillman County Ambulance Service with a person who had fallen from a railroad grain car and was unresponsive.
