The Lady Bulldogs came from behind to beat Clinton, 44-39 Tuesday evening. The Bulldog boys let an early lead get away as they lost a close one to Clinton, 52-49.
The Lady Bulldogs were behind after the first quarter, 15-13. That’s when Nia Hill and Jordan Benway began to take over.
Nia Hill scored all of her 8 of her 13 points in the second quarter to help put the girls up by two, 26-24 at halftime.
Both teams put 10 on the board in the third quarter and went into the final frame with the girls up 36-34. In the fourth quarter, Jordan Benway outscored Clinton all by herself as she scored 7 of Altus’ 9 points in the quarter. Clinton managed just five points in the fourth.
The Lady Bulldogs got the win 44-39 over Clinton.
Benway and Hill both had 13 to pace the Lady Bulldogs.
“We played better tonight,” said coach Staci Terbush. “Hill and Benway had big games for us. I was happy that we cut down on our turnovers. We did a better job of taking care of the ball. We need to hit more free throws going forward.”
The Lady Bulldogs were a combined 4 for 16 from the charity stripe.
The boys were unable to hold onto an early lead and fell 52-49. The Bulldogs will play on Thursday in the Shortgrass Invitational.
The boys JV team will play at 3 p.m. against Lawton Ike.
Lawton High plays at 4:45 p.m. against Houston CHSM.
Houston HCYA plays at 6:15 p.m. against Dallas HSSA.
The Bulldogs varsity will play in the night cap at 8 p.m. against Lawton Mac.
