The Duke Tigers ran up against a relentless Red Oak team in the first round of the state tournament last night at Mustang. The final was Red Oak 78-34.
The Tigers held Red Oak under their scoring average of 88 points per game. However, the Tigers tallied only 34 points for game. Red Oak plays a rotating ten man lineup and come after their opponents in a full-court relentless pressing defense.
Red Oak has put up to 129 points on the board during this post-season run. They look unstoppable scoring over 100 points six times this season and over 90 points 12 times.
They run you off the court. Duke, like all other opponents of Red Oak just didn’t have legs enough to handle five fresh players coming after them every second of the game.
Duke enjoyed a great basketball season as the Lady Tigers lost a heart-breaker in the Area finals to Leedey in triple overtime. The boys played in the state tournament for only the second time in three decades.
