Anyone involved in local sports or have an interest in the area’s young athletes have no doubt noticed the explosion of girls’ softball in this corner of the state.
From Mangum to Navajo to Altus, many softballers are taking their games to the next level. This article is to announce the starting of a 14u travel team to compete in some tournaments this fall.
The team is starting under the coaching of Joey Stengell. Stengell hopes to get enough interest to hold a tryout for the squad.
Girls born in 2001/2002 are needed to for the team. The team will practice 1-2 times per week focusing on fundamentals, teamwork and building confidence.
“The main goal of the team is to have fun in a competitive environment,” said Stengell.
There is a $50 registration fee which will cover insurance and uniforms. Stengell is also planning to hold a softball camp. very soon and details for that will come later.
