The Lawton Shockers rolled by Texas 8-4 yesterday afternoon at Conway, Arkansas in the 2nd round of the American Legion Regionals. The humidity was suffocating, the grass was wet and the ball was slick. Nonetheless, the Shockers move on.
Brett Lorah started on the mound and threw four scoreless innings before yielding one in a tough 5th.
“He worked himself into a pretty bad jam,” said coach Eagle Fixico. “He did a great job of minimizing the damage.” Offensively, the Shockers had built an 8-1 lead as Conner Bost continues his production with a 3-3 effort to add to his two hits yesterday.
Navajo’s All-State selection, Braden Box, entered in the 6th inning and threw three scoreless innings maintaining the Texas bunch at just one run into the 9th.
Texas managed three runs in the 9th before falling 8-4. Pioneer, Blake Clanton, was 2 for 3. “The rest of the team chipped in a hit here and there,” added Fixico. “We showed good plate discipline and did not chase many bad pitches. Texas made some errors and we took advantage.”
The Shockers now face Louisiana tonight at 7 p.m. In the semifinals matchup.
