About 10 years ago, Terry Kratz’s wife Sharlene told him she’d like a Santa decoration for their front yard. That decoration has multiplied over the years to a two-yard spectacular that includes a light show set to Christmas music.
Kratz said that although his decorations have spilled over into the neighbor’s yard, he still has more decorations that aren’t on display.
“This all started out on a much smaller scale, but as the years have gone by, it seems that I find something new each year to add, but I just can’t put everything on display,” he said.
Kratz has set his light displays to music. When you come by his home to see the display, tune your car radio to 99.7 and you will be able to hear the Christmas music that the lights blink on and off to. There are five different songs on the loop.
Kratz said that he got the idea to do this through a friend of his, Chris Hargus. Hargus started a Christmas light show at his home on Teal Circle several years ago, and showed Kratz how to do his own light show.
“Each year I’ve added a new controller. Each controller allows me to do more with the lights,” said Kratz.
Although Kratz said that he has a lot of fun putting the show together, he doesn’t do it for himself. “I do it mainly for the children,” said Kratz. “When I see the smiles on the kid’s faces and hear them getting excited over the displays, that’s what makes all of the work putting this together worthwhile.”
Kratz’s Christmas cheer has spilled out throughout the neighborhood. There are several other residents on Kratz’s block that have decorated with large inflatables and other lights and decorations. If you enjoy viewing Christmas decorations, this is a street you definitely want to drive down this holiday season.
