Altus First Assembly, under the leadership of Pastor Arlis Moon Jr., has taken on the mission of resourcing an Altus elementary school that is in need. The church has adopted (or resourced) Roosevelt Elementary School for the upcoming school year. An Apple Tree was put on display in the church hallway, where the apples on the tree were labeled with the supplies and other items that Roosevelt staff expressed a great need for. The congregation has since been purchasing those items.
“We wanted to adopt a school that is one of the more financially challenged schools in our area, and we also have some Roosevelt students who attend church here,” said Pastor Moon.
Members of the church staff have been filling book-bags with the supplies as they have come in. According to Pastor Moon, the book-bags pictured are only a small portion of what has been contributed and will be delivered to the school.
“Our church not only provides spiritual resources but also physical resources. We want to support the kids of Altus,” said Matlock Moon, AFA Children’s Pastor. “Matlock and I have a heart for serving children. Underprivileged children are close to our hearts,” added Rachelle Moon, wife.
Altus First Assembly (AFA) will also be serving the Roosevelt Elementary School teachers, during the first week of school with cookies and personal supplies. The church will continue collecting school supplies and other items until Wednesday, July 29.
Altus First Assembly is located at 1400 Falcon Road.
