Air Industrial Park development on Council agenda

A regular meeting of the Altus Municipal Authority and the Altus City Council are set for this coming Tuesday, Aug. 4. The AMA will get under way first, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Council chambers.

The AMA agenda consists of the consent agenda items: approval of minutes and the receipt of a claims list, old and new budget.

The regular City Council meeting will immediately follow.

Agenda items include approving the consent agenda, receiving a report from the Planning Department in relation to property owner Joe De La Rose, which was tabled at the July 21 meeting, in order to complete a Structure Rehabilitation Plan.

an ordinance regarding the OMPA Wise Ceiling Insulation Rebate Program to the City’s Rebate Program, will then be addressed.

Council will then consider, discuss and vote to approve a resolution authorizing the City to make application to the Department of Commerce, State of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Strategic Military Planning Commission for a total of $193,000 to be used for the development of an Air Industrial Park adjacent to Altus Air Force Base, authorizing providing 10%, or $19,300, in matching funds.

An amended renewal of the Altus Community Work Center contract will be considered, as will a vote to approve a 2-year sponsorship contract between the City and its Recreation Department and Academy Sports as recommended by the Altus Recreation Advisory Committee.

The Council will then discuss and possibly vote to increase fees for euthanasia of animals from $50 to $100 per animal with the area communities of Blair, Duke, Olustee, Snyder, Eldorado and Elmer. The increase is said to be to cover costs of a veterinarian, care, feeding and boarding of animals impounded at Altus Animal Control.

If there is no new business, mayor’s appointments, comments and reports will be heard before adjourning.
