Reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are minimal about an accident that happened near Olustee Wednesday that sent one man to the OU Medical Center by Mediflight.

According to the OHP, at about 2:24 p.m., the accident happened on a private farm road 1/2 miles east of Hwy 6 in Jackson County. Curtis P. Cotner, 31, of Olustee, driving a 2006 Dodge truck through a field, hit a 1998 Ford pickup driven by Thomas Patterson, 55, also of Olustee, who was westbound on the road.

Cotner hit the Patterson vehicle on the driver’s side door.

Cotner received no injuries in the accident, but Patterson was taken by Mediflight to the OU Medical Center where he was admitted in serious condition with head and trunk injures.

A passenger in vehicle, Stephen M. Adams, 39, of Olustee, was taken by private vehicle to Jackson County Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Seatbelts were equipped but not in use in either vehicle.
