Western splits games with Northern

The Western Oklahoma State College basketball teams split a pair of games with Northern of Tonkawa here on Thursday.

The Pioneers turned back a late Northern rally to win 81-78. The Lady Pioneers lost 73-45.

Jazreel DeJesus hit a pair free throws with 6.7 seconds remaining to give Western an 81-76 lead and put the game away.

Marcus Nelson led the Pioneers with 14 points. DeJesus finished with 12 points.

Western is 16-8 on the season.

The Western women did not have anyone in double figures Megan Steen and Amber Chaney each had eight points.

The Lady Pioneers are 6-14.
