Altus candidate forum to be held at WOSC

Mark your calendars now for the Altus Candidate Forum to be held Thursday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. This event will be held in the Western Oklahoma State Band Hall.

Co-sponsored by the Southwestern Oklahoma Republican Women and the Jackson County Democrat Women, the event will draw candidates from any of the following races. (All candidates are listed in alphabetical order.)

Those seeking the office of Altus City Mayor include: Jack Smiley, Arvella Wall, and David Webb.

Altus Police Chief candidates include: Bob Carder, Mike Munn, and Tim Murphy. City Clerk / Treasurer candidates are Debbie Davis and Ted DeVore.

Street Commissioner Holmes Willis is running unopposed since his opponent withdrew.

There are ten candidates for four Altus City Council spots in Wards 1 through 4.

David Brown, the incumbent from Ward 1 has drawn an opponent, Rick Steen.

In Ward 2, there are four candidates: Michael Beason, Mary O. Esparza, Danny McCuiston, and B.F. Roland.

In Ward 3 incumbent Peggy Risinger is challenged by Chad Osborne.

Ward 4 has two candidates, Jimmy Geigle and Mike Patterson.

Handouts will include brief autobiographical information from each candidate.
