A reception is planned for Altus Police Officer Grady Vann on Wednesday, March 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the new Council Chambers.

Vann is retiring after 20 years on the force.

He says his years of service have been quite an experience working with people and trying to help them deal with all their day-to-day problems. He has several memories, some include individuals that have come back to talk to him. They have thanked him for what he had done for them. After time had passed and thinking about their discussion with him, they knew that was their turning point. Law enforcement is not a job for everyone, Grady says, but to those who want to serve the community in this area, they will certainly enjoy the experience.
