, but also with businesses. Since before statehood, masonic cornerstones have marked old and new buildings alike. With the building of a new Jackson County jail comes the opportunity to build a cornerstone and fill a time capsule.

The Grant Lodge of Oklahoma - The Free Masons from Guthrie have offered to create a masons cornerstone at the new jail. Their work would be done free of charge.

Although, a decision has not been made by the Jackson County Commissioners, they are looking into the details and discussed where it might be placed.

A time capsule could be filled with documents, pictures and memorabilia that reflect and preserve contemporary history. Cornerstones are at some buildings in Altus, including the Vo-tech.
