Scanning the sports scene and finding some items of local interest. First of all, I wonder how many times two Oklahoma golfers have won a PGA Tour event and a Champions (Seniors) Tour event on the same weekend.
Odds are great that it has never happened previously. Bob Tway won the Canadian Open in a two-hole playoff and Gil Morgan won the Kroger Classic by two shots.
At least the members of the media have stopped calling Morgan "Dr. Gil Morgan". He has an optometrist's license but has never practiced. I don't think anyone calls Tway "Brillo" anymore, either.

The Texas Rangers, the nearest Major League baseball franchise, dropped a 5-4, 10-inning decision to the Twins on Sunday. The Rangers are currently last in the American League West, 20 games behind the Oakland A's.

The Dallas Cowboys have opened the season with a 27-13 loss to the Michael Vickless Alanta Falcons. The team just kept making the kind of mistakes that pro football teams shouldn't make.
Quincy Carter's numbers weren't too bad (15 of 32 for 268 yards), but he lost a fumble and threw an interception.
Bill Parcells didn't show much emotion, but I think the Cowboys will see another side in practice this week.
The Cowboys have gone 5-11 in each of the last two seasons. They may not (probably won't) reach the playoffs, but six or seven wins shouldn't be too much to expect.
With Parcells, Dallas has its first proven coach in a while. If they keep losing, people may start to think that the Cowboys just have a bunch of bad players. That is food for thought.
Jerry Jones needs to stay out of the picture and let Parcells run the team. I know it will be tough, but I am sure that was the bargain when the contract was signed.
