Town of Olustee Police Chief David Dickerson submitted his resignation effective Nov. 1 at Monday evening's regular meeting of the Olustee town board.
Also at the meeting, town Trustee W.A. Hartwig submitted his resignation. Hartwig said he was resigning for health reasons.
"We need to get somebody in there who can take the lead," Hartwig said. "I hate to do it, because I have a lot of friends down there."
Dickerson declined to give a reason for his resignation. According to Hartwig, Dickerson had only been with the town for about half a year. Hartwig said he had heard Dickerson was looking for a better job.
Hartwig said it is his understanding that Mayor Mike Balsuda would appoint someone to fill the rest of his term.
The board went into executive session to discuss possible disciplinary action against an unnamed county employee, but the action was tabled until the next meeting.
In other action, the board decided to sign a contract with Hamlin Construction to replace existing electrical poles and wires.
Discussion and consideration declaring Dale Stewart's property at 108 E. 4th Street a nuisance was tabled.
