Southwest Technology Center offers free community service events

Several free business and industry seminars are being planned by the business and industry division at Southwest Technology Center for November and December.

Nov. 19 - noon to 1 p.m.: Brown bag luncheon at Hastings Bookstore, topic: Get Organized - and Stay Organized - The Seven-Day Plan.

Nov. 19 - 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.: "HO HO Holiday Marketing Tips." A workshop at SWTC on fun tips and new ideas to help market your business for the holiday season.

Dec. 3 - 8 a.m. to noon: Establishing business partners with Altus AFB. "Last year officials at Altus AFB spent $250 million of dollars with local and area businesses," said Dale Latham, SWTC's bid assistant coordinator. "This seminar at SWTC will teach attendees how to do business with the base."

Dec. 3 - 9 a.m. to noon: Farm Tax Video Conference. The conference will be held with Dr. Mike Hardin, Oklahoma State University. According to Thompson, this conference will be a great opportunity for those involved in farming and ranching to ask an expert tax questions.

Dec. 4 - 9 a.m. to noon: This will be the last in a series of tax workshops conducted by Dewey Brandon, Oklahoma State Tax Commission. The workshop will be held at SWTC. The next scheduled workshop is planned for Feb. 10, 2004.

Dec. 10 - noon to 1 p.m.: A lunch and learn session will be held at Corrine's Downtown Cafe. The topic is "The FISH Philosophy," which is a short video and discussion on a new and innovative approach to making your business an engaging environment.
