OKLAHOMA CITY -- Military installations in Oklahoma will get more than $96 million in federal dollars, including $1.14 million for C-17 Modify Simulator Bays and $3.09 million for the privatization of 966 housing units at Altus Air Force Base, if President Bush approves a bill unanimously passed by the Senate on Wednesday.

The funding is included in a conference report to Military Construction Appropriations Bill for fiscal year 2004.

Republican Sens. Don Nickles and Jim Inhofe lobbied for the money and the bill passed the Senate on a vote of 98-0.

The funding plans call for:

n Fort Sill to receive $13 million for construction of a maintenance complex, $3.5 million for a modified firing range, $2 million for an Urban Assault Course and more than $25 million for 120 new housing units.

n Vance Air Force Base to get $15 million for a logistics complex. The new facility will support pilot training for the 71st Flying Training Wings and will provide space for the processing and storage of aircraft spare parts, supplies and equipment. The supply functions are currently scattered in buildings across the base.

n Tinker Air Force base to get $19.06 million for the first phase of revitalization of Building 3001 and $14.338 million for a housing privatization project.
