Man charged in Saturday hit-and-run accident

A hit-and-run vehicle accident Saturday night left one man injured. According to the police reports, Jason Dobbins, 21, of Altus, was traveling south on Main Street in a 2000 Chevrolet Pickup at 11:47 p.m., when he slowed down to turn right on Corbin.

Jose Perez, 19, of Altus, also traveling south on Main Street in the right lane in a 1995 Chevrolet pickup failed to yield, followed too close and ran into the rear of Dobbins' pickup. Perez then left the area.

Perez was arrested Sunday at 9:57 a.m. when Dobbins spotted the 1995 pickup truck parked at the residence of Perez in the 400 block of E. Ridgecrest. There was paint transfer and damage consistant with the accident report from the previous night.

Dobbins identified Perez as the driver of the vehicle which hit him and then fled the scene.

Perez was booked into the Jackson County Jail with charges of driving without a license, no insurance and a felony charge hit and run with injuries.

According to the police report, Dobbins was injured. He was wearing his seat belt.
