Burk's Shauna Runyon opened the game's scoring by hitting a trey, then Leanna Litsch answered with a driving eight'footer, making the score 3-2.
Michelle Kenney put Burkburnett up 6-2 when she was fouled while scoring, then completed the three-point play with a free throw. The Lady Bulldogs' Sydney Risinger connected on a 15-foot jumper with 3:13 left in the first period to bring Altus back to 6-4.
Burk used a basket and a free throw to take a 9-4 lead after one period of play, then hit a two-pointer early in the second period to go on top by 11-4.
Altus rallied on a pair of inside baskets by Meredith Pope and a 10-foot bank shot by Sami Faucher and suddenly the Lady Bulldogs were back in the thick of things, trailing 11-10 with 3:10 left in period No. 2.
Kenney hit a foul shot and Pope answered back with a basket that tied the score at 12-12. Burkburnett went on to score the final four points of the first half to take a 16-12 advantage into the locker room. Pope scored six points and blocked a shot to give Altus a boost during the second period.
The third quarter was a disaster for the Lady Bulldogs as they went 0-for-7 from the field and turned the ball over eight times. Burkburnett managed to down three of nine field goal attempts to score seven points and take a 23-12 lead.
Burkburnett finished up a 13-0 run by scoring the first basket of the final period. Sabrina McDonald hit a three pointer for Altus to make the score 25-15 with seven minutes remaining in the game.
Burk scored the final 11 points of the game to reach the 36-15 final.
Dominique Sims wasn't the whole show for Burk, but she was most of it. Sims scored 14 points, made four steals and grabbed eight rebounds.
Pope led the Lady Bulldogs with six points and McDonald was the leading rebounder with five.
Field goal shooting continued to be a problem for Altus as they downed just seven of 29 attempts. Burk downed 14 of 36 from the field.
The Lady Bulldogs, now 2-5 for the season, will see their next action after Christmas break when they travel to Vernon for a 6 p.m. contest on Jan. 6.
