A free seminar in securing government contracts is being offered by the Business and Industry Division at Southwest Technology Center Jan. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. according to Dale Latham, small development bid assistant coordinator.

Stanley Balch from the Oklahoma Small Business development Center at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford will present the seminar.

"This seminar will be an excellent learning tool for local and area business owners and managers to put their company in position to supply goods and services to government agencies, both at the local, state and federal level," said Latham.

Those attending will learn the opportunities available and provided information on the Small Administration's HUBZone Empowerment Contracting Program,

8 (A) certifications and Disadvantage Business Certifications said Latham.

"The HUBZone Program stimulates economic development and creates jobs in urban and rural communities by providing federal contracting preferences to small businesses while the Disadvantaged Business Certifications help small business owners compete through business development," explained Latham.

To make reservations, contact Latham at 477-2250 or by e-mail at dlatham@swtc.org.
