Altus managed only four wins in 14 matches and they had to forfeit five matches.
There were some bright spots for the Bulldogs. Cody Roach made it look easy in the 119 pound match. Roach got a quick takedown 16 seconds in the match and quickly put Lawton High's Josh Collins on his back. Roach then recorded a fall in 39 seconds.
Angel Vasquez won a narrow decision over Lawton's Anthony Roman in the 110 pound match.
Vasquez actually fell behind after given up a takedown to Roman. He roared back on an escape and two takedowns to grab 5-4 lead after the first period. There was no scoring in the second period. Vasquez added a takedown with 1:20 left in the match to take a 7-4 lead. Roman managed a reverse with 15 seconds left but Vasquez hung on for a 7-6 win.
Altus' Clark Hunter managed a win over Mika Miller in the 135-pound bout. But, it didn't look good for Hunter in the early going. He fell behind 9-1 after the first period.
Hunter began his comeback when scored on a takedown early in the second period and later added a near fall. Three times Hunter put Miller on his back in the third period. Hunter couldn't get the fall but the three near falls gave him a 15-9 victory.
The Bulldogs picked up their other win in the 152-pound match. Tim McClain grabbed an early lead and defeated Oh Dae, 6-1.
McClain scored twice in the first period on two takedowns. He added a takedown in the second period.
Altus enters the Midwest City Carl Albert Tournament on Friday.
