That Altus Band will be hosting a spaghetti dinner Saturday night to raise money for the Band Parents Organization.

The dinner will be held at 6 p.m., March 6 in the high school cafeteria with the jazz band providing entertainment. A silent auction will also be conducted with several items donated from around the area including a recliner from Darby's, jewelry from Zales and a $400 certificate from Delta airlines.

Tickets can be obtained by contacting the president of the Band Parents Organization, Darryl DeLao, or Teresa at 482-4383. Those planning to attend are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

"They [band parents] raise money to help support us, and they are key in helping us to raise funds for our annual trip," Assistant Band Director Kevin Williams said. "They also help us to raise funds for other needs that the band has."

Last year That Altus Band traveled to Disney World in Orlando for their annual trip, and this year they will be competing in Durango, Colo., from April 28 to May 2.

"Band parents already raised over $20,000 just this year alone, and they will raise anywhere between $20,000 and $30,000 on an annual basis," Williams said.

The organization raises money from the operations of the north concession stand in the stadium, an annual garage sale and from the printing and selling of the football programs.

The jazz band will perform a joint concert with the University of Oklahoma Trombone Choir on April 22 at the high school auditorium.

"We've had a good year, and we received a superior rating at the marching contest this year in Lawton," Williams added. "Right now everybody's working hard with performances and contests coming up."
