AJHS track team third at Elgin

ELGIN - The Altus Junior High School boys track team placed third in the Elgin track meet on Tuesday. Elk City took top honors with 120 points, Lawton Tomlinson was second with 106 and the Dawgs scored 105 points.

Altus won two individual events and two relays. Ryan Warren cleared a height of 9-6 to win the pole vault competition and Joseph McCaskill won the 400-meter run with a time of 54.97 seconds.

Jordan Casteel, Charles Maytubbie, McCaskill and Justin Scalf teamed to win the 1600 relay with a 3:52.9 clocking and Scalf, Garrett Hofmann, Patrick Marshall and Rolando Vasquez won the 3200 relay with a time of 9:44.63.

Vasquez took second in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:20.82. The 400 relay team of Jory Sanchez, McCaskill, Maytubbie and Casteel also finished second with a 47.91 time.

Matt Rice placed third in the 110 hurdles, running the event in 17.54 seconds. Vasquez was third in the 3200 run with a time of 11:22.34.

Hofmann posted the only fourth place finish for the team, running the 3200 meters in a time of 12:38.60. Rice was fifth in the 300 hurdles with a 48.04 time.

Landon Nagy picked up a pair of sixth place finishes, throwing the shot 39-9 and the discus 126-5. Preston Runyan was sixth in the 800 run with a time of 2:29.12.
