The Jackson County Free Health Clinic will be open the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 5:15 to 8 p.m. The free clinic is located at 401 W. Tamarack, inside Jackson County Health Department. The free clinic is for people who do not have Medicare, Medicaid, or health insurance. Treatment is given on a first come-first served basis. The American Red Cross is currently taking enrollment for an Adult CPR/AED review class. This class is for those who have current Adult CPR/AED certifications that are expiring or that have expired within the last month.

Federal and State Income Tax Preparation and E-Filing are available free of charge to persons earning $35,000 or less in 2003. Appointments are required and may be made through your local Head Start Centers or contact the RSVP office at 482-4141. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is sponsored by Southwest Oklahoma Community Action Group, Inc. - Retired & Senior Volunteer Program from Jan. 20 through April 15.

Elementary School Choice Forms will go home with Altus elementary students on Monday, March 29. Parents should fill out the forms and return them to school by Friday, April 2. The school choice forms allow parents to indicate their top choices for the school that their child will attend during the 2004-05 school year. Students not returning their forms will be assigned to a school for the coming school year.

Kindergarten pre-enrollment for the 2004-05 school year at Altus Public Schools will be held from 8a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following days: Rivers on Tuesday, March 30; Will Rogers and Roosevelt on Wednesday, March 31; and Sunset and Washington on Thursday, April 1. Parents should bring their child's birth certificate and completed shot records to enrollment.



There will be a Retirement Party for Dr. J.H. Lee at Integris Altus Medical Clinic, 201 S. Park Lane, on Tuesday, March 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Altus Masonic Lodge will host the District No. 32 open meeting on Tuesday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m. This will be a covered dish dinner with family and friends invited. Two fellow craft degrees will be conferred after the meal. Family will have entertainment in the dining room during the degrees. Please come and enjoy the good food and fellowship.

Rotary meets at noon on Tuesday, March 30 at WOSC. Rotarian of the day is Jim Burns. The speaker will be Jim Bates, Salvation Army Director of Disaster Response for Southwest Oklahoma. He will speak on disaster response.

Jackson County HCE County Council will meet at the OSU Extension Office on March 30 at 1 p.m. All members are urged to attend. There needs to be two voting members from each club.

Red Cross Disaster services has scheduled an introduction to disaster class on March 30 at the Red Cross office , 905 N. Willard, at 6:30 p.m. Intro is a prerequi site for all disaster classes. Also a family service class will be held on April 3 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Red Cross office please call 482-5305 to register.

Blair School will have Kindergarten pre-enrollment on Wednesday, March 31. Time will be from 8 a.m. to noon. To pre-enroll a child in Kindergarten, a parent/guardian should bring the child's birth certificate showing a birth date on or before Sept. 1, 1999 and a copy of the child's immunization record. Altus Masonic Lodge Number 62 will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 31. A school of instruction or a master mason degree will be conferred. Fellowship will be at 6 p.m. All masons are urged to attend.

Board of Directors of Southwestern Youth Services, Inc. will meet on Thursday, April 1 at 4 p.m. at the administrative offices of SWYS, Inc., 309 N. Hudson. Interested people are invited to attend.

The Southwest Oklahoma Quilters' Guild will meet Thursday, April 1, in the annex of Our Savior Lutheran Church on Falcon Road in Altus. Work on personal projects and quilting around a frame will begin at 9 a.m., and a potluck lunch will be enjoyed from noon to 1 p.m. An instructional program will begin at 1 p.m. Everyone interested in quilting, from absolute beginners to experienced quilters are encouraged to attend. Tornado Alley Road Riders 16th Annual April Fools Rally will be Saturday, April 3 at the Altus Community Center, 401 Falcon Rd., rain or shine. Pre-registration closes March 30. A 90th Birthday Celebration will be held for Lois Southall, Saturday, April 3 at First Methodist Church between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Blair. No gifts please.

The Great Plains Literacy Council Grate Spelling Bee is scheduled for Saturday, April 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the Altus High School Library. Co-Chairman Claire Louderd and Paulette Krueger remind participants that entries must be made by the afternoon of March 25. The registration fee is $100 and scholarships and sponsors are available. Tornado Alley Road Rider April Fool Rally will be giving away a handmade

Town of Granite will be having a town wide Garage Sale on Saturday, April 3. Fliers will be at City Hall, Granite Farmer's Mini Mart, and the Short Stop giving locations and a map of Granite. Call Granite City Hall at 535-2116 to get your garage sale on the flier.

Habitat for Humanity Altus Area. Inc. Volunteer and Family Orientation will be Tuesday, April 6 - Part I and Thursday, April 8 - Part II Family application at 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Altus Public Library. Specialized Alternatives For Families and Youth (SAFY), a leading national not-for-profit provider of foster care programs and services, will hold therapeutic foster parent training, at no cost, for anyone 21 years or over interested in learning more about becoming a SAFY Treatment Foster Parent and providing a loving and nurturing home for children in need. The University of Oklahoma Trombone Choir under the direction of David Ross Boyd Professor of Music, Irvin L. Wagner, will be performing at the Eula B. Peterson Auditorium on the Altus High School campus, Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m. The Altus High School Jazz Band will open the concert with a short program followed by the Trombone Choir. Performing with the OU Trombone Choir are Altus High School graduates, David Craig and Blake DeLao. The concert is free to the public.

The Vietnam Veterans Traveling Memorial Wall Kick-Off Dinner will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, May 15 at the VFW.
