DUNCAN - The Altus High School tennis teams placed third in the Southern Oklahoma Conference Tournament at Duncan on Monday.

Duncan won the boys title with 34 points. Ardmore was second with 28. Then came Altus with 22, MacArthur 18, Lawton Eisenhower 17 and Lawton High 14.

In the girls division, Ardmore tallied 34 points to claim the conference title. Duncan was second with 30 points and Altus followed with 23 points. MacArthur had 16 points while Eisenhower and Lawton High each had 15 points.

No. 2 doubles team Brent Reinke and Dustin Weldon placed second, losing 6-3 and 6-3 to Duncan in the finals.

The No. 1 doubles team of Cody Allard and Neal Lundby placed third. They lost to one of the top doubles teams in the state in the semifinals before losing in three sets to the Ardmore doubles team.

Number one singles player Corey Doyle and No. 2 two singles player Evan Mustard both lost in the third place game. Doyle and Mustard both lost in a third set tie breaker.

In the girls tournament, No. 1 singles player Jessica Balderas was third. She now has a 9-2 record.

Sarah Geluz was also third at No. 2 singles.

Ali McMahan and Chelsea Pearson placed third at No. 2 doubles while the No. 1 doubles team of Ashley Purdue and Jessica Stovall was fourth.

The Altus teams will enter the prestigious Edmond North Tournament on Monday. The junior varsity squads will play in the Weatherford Tournament on Friday.
