Trudi Salinas, 23, of Altus, was in good condition this morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing her 1998 Dodge pickup into a bridge support just after 9 a.m. Saturday in Kiowa County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Salinas was traveling east on the inside lane of U.S. Highway 62 about 21/2 miles west of U.S. 183 when the vehicle veered off the right side of the roadway for some 300 feet, struck a fence and went airborne for about 90 feet before hitting the pillar.

She was not wearing a seat belt.

Salinas was taken to the hospital with trunk, head and internal injuries.
