From staff reports

Altus Air Force Base is scheduled to hold a severe weather response exercise Wednesday, complete with sirens and weather scenarios.

"Our objective is to test the base's severe weather notification and response procedures," said Lt. Col. Michael Gosnell, chief of wing plans. During the exercise, people will be informed of impending threats through various notification systems culminating with the sounding of the base siren. "Once the siren sounds, people are expected to take cover."

According to Gosnell, on-duty personnel are required to participate with the exception of people supporting flying operations or contracted student training.

"We encourage all others, including residents of base housing, to participate as well."
