They will play at Chickasha at 6 p.m. on Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 7-6 overall record and were 4-2 in district play. They lost by a single point to district champion Weatherford and to second-place team Woodward.
"A lot of credit for this playoff berth goes to Jay Falkner and George Corey who coached many of these girls in a fall league earlier this year. Without the valuable experience gained, these girls would not have developed valuable skills," coach Lyn Hepner said.
"I would also like to thank coaches Dusty Brown, Robert Garrison, Wes St. Clair, Fred Sims.
"Even in Losses, confidence was gained: Eisenhower 1-2 in OT (in 2 of the past 3 years, they beat us 10-0); Woodward and Weatherford: Each finished above us in district. With just one more point, we could be playing a home game in the playoffs. And with just a few more, we could have been district champions.
"Some of our key victories included: Come-from-behind victories at Clinton, Elk City and against Cache. We trailed Cache by one with 5 minutes left.
"This year's team has gotten along better than any in our recent past. They do have differences but have overcome them to achieve their goals.
Because of after-school athletics, the girls have had to make sacrifices in that they had to stay longer, miss work and start studying later in order to represent our school and city. We have nearly 30 girls
that are out here competing, exercising, and learning life lessons. Without this, there would be one less constructive activity and more oppurtunity for the wrong type of activities.
"Although it was a goal to make the playoffs, it is not our only one. The ultimate goal, of course, is to play in the state championship," Hepner concluded.
The directions to reach the soccer field in Chickasha are: Go east on Hwy 62 to Lawton; take Rogers Lane to I-44; North on I-44; Take first Chickasha Exit; Turn right on Hwy 81; Turn left on Grand (by Braums & McDonalds); Turn right at the first entrance to U.S.A.O.; Go to dead end and turn left; Cross railroad tracks and turn right: stadium is on the left.
When you get to the stadium, just keep going straight until you will come to a dead end......(green fence in front of you)....turn left at the dead
end. You will curve around to the right and then turn right again into a
gravel road. The softball field & soccer field both have a green fence a
around them and are next to each other.
