Juanice L. Thomason, 75, of Altus, was in good condition this morning at Jackson County Memorial Hospital after the car in which she was a passenger slid broadside into a dirt embankment Wednesday night south of Olustee.
Ms. Thomason suffered trunk and internal injuries.
According to a Highway Patrol report, the 2000 Ford pickup driven by Kenney Ray Thomason, 50, of Altus, was headed south on a county road at 8:15 p.m. when the vehicle ran off the roadway six-tenths of a mile south of Olustee, hit the embankment, rolled halfway and came to rest in a ditch.
Ms. Thomason was freed from the vehicle with "Jaws of Life" by the Jackson County Fire Department after being pinned for about 30 minutes.
Kenney Thomason was pinned but was able to free himself and was not injured.
Another passenger, George Crafton, 52, of Altus, also came out of the wreck without
injury.
It was raining at the time of the accident, and seat belts were not in use.
Also assisting at the scene were the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and the Olustee Fire Department. Ms. Thomason was taken by Jackson County EMS personnel to
JCMH.
