In keeping with the tradition of the National Prayer Breakfast established in 1953 by Abraham Vereide, the Jackson County Ministerial Alliance, Altus Air Force Base Chapel and the Altus Chamber of Commerce are hosting the third annual Jackson County, Oklahoma Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, May 5, from 6 to 7:30 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

The annual national event held in Washington D.C. has 3,500 people in attendance. Last year our breakfast had a sold out crowd of 240 people. We have expanded the seating capacity to 300 for 2011.

Tickets will be available for $15 for individuals. Businesses interested in helping to sponsor the breakfast may purchase a table of eight for $125 for their employees and guests. The breakfast is designed to be a forum for political, social and business leaders of the county to assemble together and build relationships which might not otherwise be possible.

Keynote and guest speaker for this event is Kent Humphreys, business leader from Oklahoma City. He is a renowned speaker who has spoken in both national and international business forums. Ken is an established author, co-writing six books with his wife of 40 years, Davidene. Kent has a business background in several different fields including distribution, real estate, venture capital and consulting. From 2002 - 2007 Ken served a President of the Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI), an organization that equips and encourages Christian business owners who desire to use their companies as a platform for ministry. Kent now serves them as a worldwide ambassador.
