Every year in this country, more than 500,000 children are removed form their families, and placed in foster care. They have committed no crime, but are simply child victims and have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) wants to make a difference. This non-profit organization trains volunteers to speak for the best interests of these children in court and to help find them a safe, permanent home.

Training will start in at the end of this month. Every volunteer undergoes a criminal background check, a personal interview, and participates in 30 hours of training to become a child advocate.
