The American Red Cross is currently taking enrollment for an Adult CPR/AED review class to be held September 30th. This class is for persons holding current expiring certifications or with certifications which have expired within one month of the class date. The Oklahoma Lions Club District 3-L Governor, Travis Cummins (Chickasha), will be the featured speaker at this Thursday's Altus Lions Club luncheon. District Governor Cummins will conduct an installation ceremony for new Altus Lions Club members and officers for the Leo Clubs from Altus Junior High School and Altus High School. All Lions are encouraged to attend. The Altus Lions Club meets at noon every Thursday in the banquet room of The Friendship Inn.

Jackson County Assessor's office is taking orders for the new 2004 farm plat books. The price is $30. If you would like to order a book, please call Denise at 482-0787.

Altus Masonic Lodge Number 62 will hold a special communication at 7 p.m. today. Fellowship will be at 6 p.m. Two fellow Craft Degrees will be conferred. All members are encouraged to attend.

Altus Lodge will host a Scottish Rite dinner on Thursday. The meal will be served at 7 p.m. All Scottish Rite members and those that would like to learn more about Masonry are encouraged to attend. Please call Vicki King at 477- 0892 so we can plan for the amount of food needed.

The Gamma Goldies Lunch Bunch will meet at noon Thursday at the Friendship Inn.

American Legion Roach-Lemer Post #44 will meet Thursday at the towers, 101 E. Commerce. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 6:30 p.m.

The Altus Air Force Base Officers' Spouses' Club will have their Second Annual Bowl-A-Thon at 1 p.m. Thursday at Galaxy Lanes on AAFB. There is an entrance fee of $6.50 per person (three bowling games, shoes and prizes). Ask friends and neighbors to pledge a flat donation or per pin donation. There will be trophies for the team or squadron and individual that raises the most money. There will also be some fun prizes awarded to the first gutter ball, first strike, first turkey and the lowest score bowled. This event is open to all with base access. The Altus Kiwanis Club meets at WOSC Student Center at noon Friday. All Kiwanians and their guest are encouraged to attend. Our program this week is on the Rapid Response System for violent or hostile situations in Altus. Officers from the Altus Police Department are the speakers. Darrell Norton, Kiwanian of the day, will make introductions. It is important for ALL members to attend.

Altus All Sports Association will have a Burger Burn from 6 to 7:10 p.m Friday at the Practice Field under the tent.They will be selling hamburger or two hotdogs, chips and a drink for $5. Come early and purchase your All Sports Association Membership at the Hall of Champions.

POW/MIA Tribute to Veterans will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the VFW Post 4876, 500 Veterans Drive. They will be serving coffee, donuts, juice.

The Warren Senior Citizens/Community will have their third Friday night of the month at 6 p.m. Friday. Located on highway 19, 7 miles east of blair. They will be selling bar b que on a bun with chips for $1, pop for .50˘. All coffee, tea and desserts are free.

Prince of Peace Catholic Church is having their annual "Jamaica" Saturday, Sept. 18. Events starts with a gigantic-wide garage sale from 8 a.m. to noon. Then immediately afterwards, committee members will have authentic mexican food, games for the children to participate, pinata, bingo for the adults. Also will have a tortilla making contest.
