Altus to host wrestling event

The 17th annual Altus Takedown Club sponsored Altus Invitational Wrestling Tournament will be held Oct. 23 at the City of Altus gymnasium.

"It has been two years since we've hosted a tournament in Altus," said coach Greg Ornelas. "We would like to invite the public to come out and watch these guys in action said coach Ulysses Bridges.

Altus has four wrestlers ranked in the top five of the nation including Keilan Torres, Division III, 70 pounds; Tavon Birdow, Division I, 55 pounds; Montorie Bridges, Division I, 52 pounds and Triston Cortez, Division 1, 37 pounds.

Torres the current national champion and Birdow is a returning state champion ready to defend his title and earn a top ranking national position.
