The Altus High School Music Department is now selling fruit as one of its yearly fundraisers. Apples, citrus fruits or assortments may be purchased, with the fruit coming in around the second or third week of December. Altus '24th Annual Altus Christmas Parade will be at 3 p.m. Dec. 5. The theme for this year's parade is "Christmas in Our Town." Clubs, organizations, schools, musical groups, churches, businesses and individuals are invited to participate in the parade. Prizes are awarded for floats in five categories. Harvest for the Hungry will begin in order to fill the community cupboard. Bags were distributed in the community on Nov. 6 to be filled with non-perishable items. They will be picked up on Nov. 13.
Shortgrass Institute is pleased to announce a Watercolor Painting Workshop with Lowetta Chesser from 6-9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, thru Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Altus Public Library. Her workshop will provide useful information and techniques to people at all levels of ability in watercolor. For anyone wanting to try painting, this is a great place to begin. Shortgrass Institute is a joint project of Shortgrass Arts and Humanities Council; Southern Prairie Library System and Altus Schools Art Department. 17th Annual Toy Run is coming up in December The Tornado Alley Road Riders will be sitting in front of Wal-Mart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, collecting new and good used toys.
