A felon whose last listed address is in Eldorado is in the Greer County Jail on a $150,000 bond following his arrest Friday on a charge of attempted robbery in the first degree.

Johnny Clyde Monroe, 43, was picked up on a warrant in Eldorado and jailed in Jackson County at 11:13 p.m. Friday, then transferred to Greer County early Saturday morning.

According to affidavits filed in Greer County District Court, at about 7 p.m. Oct. 17, Monroe, along with a woman, Krystal Fletcher, entered the residence of Michael Blain, 706 N. Elm in Granite, while Blain was watching a ball game on television.

Blain said that Monroe told him, "Give me your medicine!" -- Xanax and Lortab -- for which Blain has a prescription. When Blain refused, he said, Monroe threw him on the floor and placed Blain's head between his knees and squeezed, breaking Blain's glasses.

He said that Monroe again demanded the drugs, and he refused again, whereupon Monroe hit him in the back several times and threatened to kill him. Blain again refused to give him the medicine.

When asked by the police officer if Fletcher was involved in what had happened, Blain said, "No, she just watched."

According to the affidavit, another man, Bill Colson, waited outside in a pickup truck.

A dispatcher with the Greer County Sheriff's Department said that Monroe has lived in Granite and that he has several prior arrests.
