ALTUS -- An Olustee man wanted in a home break-in and assault the Sunday before Christmas has turned himself in.

Adrian Borrego, 25, was booked into the Jackson County Jail at 10:24 a.m. Monday charged with first degree burglary and assault and battery. A little over four hours later, at 2:45 p.m., he was released on bond.

Borrego, whose bond was set at $150,000, had been wanted by police for an early morning incident at 512 E. Walnut in which he and five other men allegedly entered the home during a private party and physically assaulted several people, including the homeowner, Kenneth Simmons.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed at the District Court, witnesses and victims stated that at about 1 a.m. Dec. 19 an argument broke out in the front yard of the home involving suspects Michael Maldonado, 21, of 1008 N. Jackson, and Brian Torres and two party guests. Simmons asked the two to leave, and many of the party guests felt that they would return with friends and start a fight.

At about 1:30 a.m., witnesses and victims said, six or seven Hispanic men entered the home uninvited and began to assault the people inside.

Simmons said that he was standing next to the front door when Borrego entered the house with several other people and that he approached Borrego and shook his hand, telling him that he didn't want any trouble.

Without warning, Simmons said, Borrego punched him in the face, and when he tried to fight back he was overcome by a number of individuals. He said he saw a shiny object in someone's hand, then felt a blow to the back of his head.

According to the affidavit, Borrego has three felony embezzlement arrests and convictions and an arrest Oct. 6, 2000, for felony assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, which case was dismissed due to witness non-cooperation. He also has 10 misdemeanor arrests and convictions, the affidavit says.

Three other individuals have been arrested in the incident: Maldonado, for first degree burglary; Pete Miranda, 24, of Altus, and Marcus A. Molina, 24, of 1815 Sunset, for first degree burglary and assault and battery.

Police are still looking for two other individuals: Brandon Keith Wilson, 20, of 422 E. Everett, wanted for first degree burglary and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; and Greggory Paul Lopez, 22, of 520 N. Jackson, wanted for first degree burglary.

Anyone with information about these two men is asked to contact the Altus Police Department or call Crime Stoppers at 482-TIPS. All information will remain confidential.
