Applications for Cadet Lawman Academy are now available at the local Elks Lodge. This is a program for Jr's in high school who are interested in a career in law enforcement. The students must be in the top 50% of the class. Deadline for submitting applications is April 1.

Altus FFa Livestock Booster Club Annual FFA and 4-H Livestock Show will be Friday and Saturday. The animals can arrive at the Altus FFA school farm starting at 4 p.m. On Saturday starting at 8 a.m. animals must be in place with the weighing beginning at 8:15 a.m., the show starts at 11 a.m. Showmanship competition will follow the conclusion of each species. There will be a junior and senior showmanship trophy for each species.

That Altus Band Parents is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and silent auction starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5, at the Altus High School Cafeteria. The Southwest Oklahoma chapter of the American Red Cross will be having its annual "Easter Orchid Sales Fundraiser" again this year. Orchids are only $7 each and companies, organizations and others may purchase 30 orchids for a discounted price of $150. All orders must be in by Noon Thursday, March 10.
