OLUSTEE -- An abandoned two-story house and single-wide trailer went up in flames Sunday night in Olustee.

And a 2-ton Chevrolet truck attached to the trailer home survived the blaze with only burnt tires, according to Olustee Police Chief Jason Parker.

At about 10:15 p.m., Parker said, two units of the Olustee Volunteer Fire Department and a unit from the Altus Fire Department responded to a call reporting the fire at 8th and Elm.

The mobile home had caught fire first, Parker said, and it spread to the house in front of it.

According to Olustee Fire Chief Dave Brown, the property belonged to Olustee resident Dale Stewart, who actually brought in a bulldozer to aid firefighters with the destruction of the old two-story house.

Parker said the trailer home was completely destroyed, and the house "went up pretty quick," adding that the attic of the house had been full of trash.

Neither Parker nor Brown could put a monetary figure on the property loss, and they said the incident is under investigation.
