Tatum died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Gray Gish Funeral Home.
He was born on Dec. 26, 1941, to James (Bo) and Rachel (Tatum) McDaniel. He was born and raised in Frederick where he attended Kennedy Elementary and Boyd High School. He worked for 20 years at AT&T from which he retired in 1992. He was united in marriage to Denise Thomas on Sept. 17, 1998, in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Church of the Living God C.W.F.F. in Frederick.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Douglas Cruse; one daughter, Carmella Tatum; three sisters, Essie Rockenmore, Gladys Williams and Willie Mae (Tatum) Nolan; two brothers, Roy McDaniel and Paul McDaniel Jr.
He is survived by his wife Denise D. Tatum; five daughters, Caroline Stone and husband Robert, and Lynnette (Net) Gentry, all of Oklahoma City, Olivette (Red) Shively and Anita Tatum, both of Lawton, and Tracy Cruse of Vernon, Texas; two sons, Michael James Tatum of Weatherford, and Edward Tatum of Dallas; three sisters, Mae Jackson and husband Ernest, Lolly Williams and her husband Charles, all of Oklahoma City, and Virginia Buckner of Altus; a brother-in-law, Clarence H. Williams Jr., of Frederick; 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and three stepchildren, Conrad Thomas of Portland, Maine, and Calvin and Akeem Thomas, of Alexandria, Va.
