Boys

Altus-3 Clinton-2

The Altus Bulldogs showed great character here Tuesday night in a district win over Clinton. The Bulldogs avenged an

earlier drubbing of 5-2 from Clinton by overcomimg a two-goal first half deficit and the robust Oklahoma wind. The Bulldogs also

exhibited great sportsmanship and composure in a hotly contested game that saw numerous yellow cards and two Clinton players being

red carded and ejected for flagrant fouls.

The Clinton team, led by football standout Ray Long showed much athleticisim and speed but couldn't match the Altus ball handling

skills and pressure defense led by Tim Vargas. Goalkeeper Grant Sasse shook off a couple early game shocks and provided stellar

defense throughout the second half.

Two goals were scored by freshman Kevin Tocknell and James Gilreath added an additional goal as well as many good shots on goal.

Valuable assists were provided by Gilreath, Jeremy Wherle and Andrew Pelkey. Midfielder JD Falkner provided both defensive and

offensive support from his center midfield position.

The Bulldogs are also tied for the district lead and play Elk City here Thursday.
