Annie Jewell Leverett went to be with her Lord on June 27, 2005, at Plantation Village Nursing Home in Altus. Annie was the daughter of W.F. and Willie Alexander and was born Oct. 13, 1909, at Rhome, Texas. Annie moved with her family to Southwest Oklahoma at an early age and graduated from Duke High School in 1931. She married Amos Leverett in Altus on Aug. 1, 1931. They were married 61 years prior to his death in 1992. Amos and Annie had two sons, Darill and Lynn Leverett. Annie was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.

She worked for many years as a cook for the Altus Public Schools. She enjoyed her past seven years at the Tamarack Retirement Home. She will be lovingly missed by her family and friends who will never forget her bright smile and cheery disposition.

Annie is survived by sons, Darill Leverett and his wife Janelle of Altus, and Lynn Leverett and his wife Paula of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Joe Leverett and wife Kim, Brad Leverett and wife Robin of Altus, Jay Leverett and wife Doris of Amarillo, Lisa Rhodes and husband Ed of Abilene, Texas, and Chris Leverett and wife Kelly of Plano, Texas; great-grandchildren Danelle Leverett, Sarah Leverett, Carson Leverett, Austin Leverett, Dusty Rhodes, Colton Rhodes, Travis Leverett, Alyssa Rhodes, Holly Leverett and Cade Leverett; one sister, Edith Thompson of Mangum; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services for Annie Leverett will be held at the First Baptist church of Altus at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Interment will follow in the Restlawn Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage contributions to the charity of your choice in Annie's name. The family will receive guests at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
