An outage on Saturday afternoon left many without electricity.

According to Public Works Director Bob Stevenson, the outage lasted 20 minutes and affected two-thirds of the city. He said that Nona and Park Lane substations were taken offline due to an outage on the American Electric Power transmission line.

Most areas south of Falcon Road and east of Main Street were out. TheTamarack area was not affected because it feeds from a different transmission line, Stephenson said.

City officials were unsure this morning whether the outage was related to weekend rains. Altus Air Force Base received a total of 1.4 inches of rain over the weekend, with many others in Southwest Oklahoma reporting more than 2 inches.
