However, in order to do that, Mangum will have to improve its offensive output. Against Waurika, the Tigers were able to move the ball up and down the field, but once it got near the redzone, turnovers or execution problems hampered the squad. The final result was an 18-7 defeat.
Waurika was able to score 10 points off six turnovers. The Tigers know their team cannot win many games by giving the ball away.
The Eagles also shed light on another area of concern for Mangum. The Tigers compiled on three plays of 10 yards or more. One was the 87-yard touchdown by Paul Epperson. Besides that, there were no big plays coming out of the Tigers' wishbone offense, which meant they had to continually drive the length of field.
Epperson led the Tigers with 120 yards on 14 attempts last week. They will need more from him and the entire offense Friday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
In other area games on Friday, Tipton travels to Burns Flat and Hollis will host Hinton. Duke will try to rebound from a 50-0 defeat last week when it goes to Corn Bible. All games start at 7:30 p.m.
