Thomas Verlon Stephens, 91, of Amarillo, Texas, and long-time resident of Altus, died Tuesday, Aug. 23 at the Heritage Convalescent Center in Amarillo.

He was born Jan. 31, 1914 in Wolfe City, Texas to Carroll and Mary (Barnes) Stephens. He married Evelyn Atherton. He was a photographer and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Altus.

He is survived by two sons, Loyd Stephens of Oklahoma and Richard Woodson of Amarillo; two daughters, Janice Blair of Borger, Texas and Irene Ackerson of Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Masonic graveside service was to be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 26. Burial was to be at Mt. Carmel in Wolfe City, Texas.
