Harper was born May 19, 1932 in Elkins, W. Va. to Floyd and Edna (Harris) Harper. He graduated high school in Elkins in 1950 and immediately joined the Armed Forces Infantry, where he served his country proud until 1965. After his stay in the military, he opened and operated a cabinet shop until he was forced to close it in 1999, and move to Oklahoma to be closer to his son due to health reasons.
He was member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a scuba instructor for many years. He also enjoyed very much working with wood, both in his shop and on his own.
He was preceded in death by both his parents.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Richardson of Middleton, Fla.; two sons, John and Lorie Harper of Port St. Lucie, Fla. and Fred and Debora Harper of Blair.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at the First United Church with Rev. Marie Van Oostrum officiating.
