The Jackson County Republican Women will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at Fred’s Famous Fish and Steakhouse. The speaker will be Judy Istook, wife of Congressman Ernest Istook, who has announced his candidacy for governor. Anyone and everyone is welcomed to attend.

The Altus Kiwanis Club will meet at noon Friday, Nov. 11, at the student center at Western Oklahoma State College. Kiwanian of the day will be Jan Oden. The program will be presented by Lloyd Hickman, a Pearl Harbor survivor who served on the USS Tennessee. The program will cover his experiences during the war. Altus Kiwanis members are encouraged to invite a veteran to attend Friday’s Veteran’s Day meeting.

American Legion Post 44 will host a Veteran’s Day breakfast at 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at the Towers meeting room. All veterans, their spouses or widows are invited. Guest speaker is state Rep. David Braddock, District 52.
