Red Cross disaster training is being scheduled for Introduction to Disaster

, Mass Care, Shelter Operations. Introduction to Disaster is a prerequisite to all disaster training. All disaster training is free. If any organization, business or church is interested in helping in disaster events please contact 482-5303 for information and enrollment.

Volunteers are desperately needed to ring the bell for The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign. Individuals, families, groups, civic organizations, churches, businesses and service organizations can sign up to participate. Vaudeville Benefit Variety Show sponsored by the Disabled Veterans and Shortgrass Arts and Humanities Council will be conducting auditions from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, and Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Altus Plaza Theater. 3-5 minute acts of all kinds needed. Western Oklahoma State College will hold early enrollment for the spring semester from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 15. Admissions clinics are scheduled for 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14.

First United Methodist Church of Altus will present its annual Country Kitchen Christmas bazaar at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16. Candies, baked goods and delicacies of all kinds will be sold at the North Pole Bakery and Mrs. Claus’ Candy Shoppe. The public is invited.

Oklahoma Retired Educators Association will meet at 11:30 Thursday, Nov. 17, at Western Oklahoma State College Student Center. Topic will be “Educational Opportunities” and guest speakers will be educators from WOSC, Southwest Technology Center and Altus Alternative School.

Roach-Lemer Post 44 of the American Legion will have meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, at the First National Bank. There will be a meal at 6 p.m. All members are encouraged to attend.
